I've said it a thousand times already but I'm madly in love with
British film and theatre industry. My latest revelation is Original
British Drama on BBC One.
The Escape Artist starring dazzling David Tennant is a three-episode
suspenseful drama where the story revolves around Will Burton, a
successful lawyer of unprecedented intellect. He's never lost a case
but does everyone deserve a defense? A ruthless murderer evades
penalty and turns Will's life into a nightmare. His wife was killed
yet her murderer just walks away. From now on the drama starts
exploring a thin line between law and justice and I personally have
had a splendid time watching it. Is he really the Escape Artist?
A few words about the
script – it's smart, it's full of suspense, totally unpredictable
and simply won't let you change the channel. It's a bit slower than
CSI and all the rest which makes it a bit more realistic as well. I
particularly enjoy it when protagonist and antagonist switch places
and the characters are complex so you have to think, doubt, go
“argh!” before rooting for any of them.
David Tennant's acting is
superb (well, it was kind of expected). Along with Broadchurch and
Politician's Husband The Escape Artist is another masterful creation
of this genius brought to us in 2013.
